The route starts with the visit to JOYA DE CEREN, a unique archeological site in the Mayan World, declared HERITAGE OF HUMANITY BY UNESCO. It shows us how the daily life was for the Pre-Colombian population of this village. It is currently preserved after having been buried by 10 layers of ash from the eruption of the Loma Caldera Volcano in the year 660 A.C., a reason for which it is known as La Pompeya of America.

Continuing through the Panamerican highway toward the city of Santa Ana, the second most important city of the country, then going through the main avenue until you reach the historical center that encompasses the gothic style Cathedral – unique in all of Central America -, the Municipal Palace and the National Theater built during the first decade of the XX Century and inaugurated with an opera of Giussepe Verdi. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, the tour continues toward the location of Chalchuapa to visit the archeological site “Casa Blanca”, its museum and the workshop where they do the dyeing process of “añil” and the visitor can participate creating his/her own printed model. The tour ends with a visit to the pyramids of El Tazumal, the highest of the country where there are findings of Olmeca and Teotihuacana influence.
